Low Cost, High Impact - Social Media Film Marketing

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In this one-day long course intensive, students will be exposed to a number of “low cost, high impact” online advertising, marketing, and social media tactics that any small or independent filmmaker can use to draw awareness and visibility of their film.

Students will work with already shot content from their films/videos in order to develop marketing materials across a number of online platforms, with a specific lean towards Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Through both group and individual review with their teaching artist, students will be able to generate tangible assets that can be immediately added to their film’s marketing campaign.

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST

Melissa Daoulas

Melissa Daoulas is a seasoned writer, producer, and educator with almost a decade of experience in streaming platforms and television networks. She has taught film and television marketing at The American University, and has served as an educator for magnet arts programs in Maryland.

Melissa started her career with National Geographic in post-production, and has produced under Discovery’s TLC Network, representing some of the network’s biggest social media brands. Now the owner and founder of Melissa’s Creative Media, LLC, she creates and develops social media and brand marketing strategies for small businesses.

With a Master of Arts degree in Producing Film, Television, and Video from American University, Melissa is an active member of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious honor society.
