Ballet Hispánico

Ballet Hispánico

Presented by Strathmore at Music Center at Strathmore

For over 50 years, Ballet Hispánico has been bringing communities together, using innovative dance performances, transformative dance training, and community engagement experiences to celebrate and explore Latino cultures. By providing access to arts education, the organization inspires creativity and social awareness in our neighborhoods and nationwide.

Tina Ramirez, the founder of Ballet Hispánico and a National Medal of Arts recipient, sought to give voice to the Hispanic experience while shattering stereotypes. Today, Ballet Hispánico is led by Eduardo Vilaro, an acclaimed choreographer and former Company member born in Cuba and raised in New York. Vilaro is an advocate for cultural diversity and dance education. He has infused Ballet Hispánico’s legacy with a bold and eclectic style of contemporary dance that reflects America’s changing cultural landscape. Vilaro’s choreography captures the spiritual, sensual, and historical essence of Latino cultures.
